Matt has been a busy guy these last six months. In the spring, he drove 5000 kms across the country, visiting schools, doing bookstore readings, driving through snowstorms and passing barefooted buddhists on the highway!

In Matt's blog, read about his adventures and find out who stowed himself in the back seat and came along for the ride. Matt is working on a bunch of projects these days, including a new novel, a photography book for teens, and the US version of Can You Spell Revolution? due to come out in Fall '08.

Matt is thrilled to be participating in TD Canadian Children's Book Week in November. He'll be touring Manitoba schools and libraries, performing his two presentations When I Grow Up I Want To Be and Grading a Writer's Life.

Matt and Nathan visit librarian Andrée Beauchemin at Kamloops Library in May 2007.

Getting to First Base … For a Second Time!

Getting To First Base with Danalda Chase has been very well received in the United States. Kirkus Reviews said that Matt hit a "grand slam" while Booklist said the novel "captures seventh-grade male angst with humor and compassion." Meanwhile, the Columbia Tribune and Miami Herald called the work "a clever book ... and funny" and "highly entertaining," respectively. North of the 49th parallel, Earth To Nathan Blue has also been getting some notice. The Georgia Straight in Vancouver declared, "Nathan's inventive language is fun, and his battles with his mother and teachers are vivid and true."
Matt's Other Artistic Outlet

Matt had another successful photography show in the spring, selling five of six 16 x 24 framed images at the Tango Palace in Toronto. "In Other Worlds" was another up-close look at the city, revealing the unusual and captivating macroscapes around us. Take a look at the show (they are series of 5, so more prints are available!) and the new Textures #3 collection at the photography page.
